2021.0405.0.0 Hotfix

  • Patched a bug that was causing Interface Line Items to intermittently get corrupted and thus would cause errors when you tried to save on the interface.

New Features

Cache Storage For Database Data

  • Starting with this version of Versa, Versa will now start to cache some data that it gets from the database in order to help reduce load times.
  • This feature is a work in progress and you may not notice significant changes in loading time unless you are on a slower connection or are a long distance from the office.
    • Currently the following will be cached: Accessibility Statutes, Units Of Measure, Utility Types, Utility Usage Units, Repair Guide Levels, When Values, Repair Actions and Critical Statuses.
  • Note that Versa will build the cache when you load a project. Each subsequent time you open a project, Versa will validate the cache to make sure there are no missing files.
    • If files are missing from the Cache, Versa will try to create them when it has to get data from the database.
  • If for some reason you need to clear the cache, you can do so by going to the settings tab on the Ribbon and clicking the clear cache button.
  • You can also clear the cache by going to your Documents/Versa/VersaSettings folder and deleting the "Cache" folder.
  • In the future, we will try to cache other data such as Components and Component Types and potentially other possibilities...

Bulk Add Inspected Units

  • There is now a new button on the ribbon on the Inspected Units screen that when clicked, will bring up the bulk add inspected units window.
  • This window allows you to select the building, unit type and quantity of units to add. When you click the add button, it will create a number of inspected units for you based off of the quantity you selected.
  • The only thing filled out will be the building and unit type you entered in the window. Everything else you will have to manually fill out since those things may be different for each unit.
  • You can however use the bulk edit feature (shift + click or ctrl + click on rows and edit a column) to update multiple inspected units.

Versa Change Notes Are Shown In Separate Browser Window (Again)

  • After testing out the new Edge widget for Windows apps, it has been found that most people are not noticing the release note changes when Versa updates via the Edge window on the right side of the home screen in Versa.
  • As a result, going forward, Versa will once again have Windows open a new browser window to show you the latest release notes.
  • Edge will continue to be acccessible within Versa though, since there are still other things we can do with it.

Option To Not Show Edge On Home Screen in Versa

  • With the above change, you now have the option to hide Edge when you open Versa. If you wish to do this, go to the settings tab on the ribbon and select the option to not display Edge.
  • If you toggle this option, you will either need to do something to leave the home screen (I.E. Open a project) or restart Versa so that the home screen can unload Edge.
  • IMPORTANT: Since the Edge widget for Windows apps is still a work in progress from Microsoft, you may be experiencing crashing on startup or other weird problems accessing the home screen. It is recommended you hide Edge if you are having these problems.

Component Screen - ASTM Column

  • The component library screen's grid now has the ASTM section number column on the far left side.

Improvements and Other Changes

  • We added RS Means to the list of options for Replacement Cost Sources on the Building Types Screen

  • You can no longer accidently type in non-existant options for Replacement Cost Sources on the Building Types Screen

  • The width of the Recently Used Projects list has been increased to accomodate projects with longer names.

  • The layout of the template used for entries on the Recently Used Projects list has been adjusted to be more compact so that more items can be fit on the list at a time.

  • The icon for the Recently Used Projects list has been updated to the Fluent style. Also the Versa icon on the Engineering Home screen is now the flat style icon.

  • We updated several libaries from Microsoft and other 3rd parties that Versa uses for various bug fixes.

  • A couple of the tool tips for settings on the settings tab on the Ribbon have been changed to use "Super Tips" which have embedded icons and better formatting / layout.

  • We removed a large amount of old code from the back end of Versa to tidy things up. This shouldn't cause any noticable performance changes.
